Polygamy islam

The principle was permitte but polygamy was limited to four wives. No one can force a woman to marry a married man. One is polygyny where a man marries more than one woman, and the other is polyandry, where a woman marries more than one man.

Polygamy can be of two types. Through the Quran, conditions and guidelines were explained to ensure it was done in the best way possible to benefit both husband and wife. A Muslim man can marry as many as four women at a time and have sexual relations with an unspecified number of slaves as well.

Muhammad had eleven wives at one time. The Bible says that Lamech, the grandson of Adam, “took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. So polygamy has existed from the earliest days of human history. I motsats till islam finner vi inga begränsningar för antalet fruar i den judiska Talmudeller i den kristna Bibeln.

Enligt dessa skrifter finns ingen gräns för hur många kvinnor en man får gifta sig med. Följaktligen är polygami inte exklusivt för islam utan något som även praktiserats av tidiga kristna och judar. A leading Muslim scholar at Cambridge University claims that men are biologically designed to desire a multiplicity of women and that polygamy should be legalised in the UK. A primary schoolteacher in Birmingham talks about his life with two wives and six children - all living in the same house.

That principle is allowe but polygamy is only limited on four wives.

He knew that polygamy hurt women, yet through his example he permitted it for billions of other Muslim men. But there is one thing many seem to know and that is a Muslim man can have four wives. They may have as many as four wives at the same time. Previous teachings permitted unlimited and unrestricted polygamy.

Islam permits men to engage in polygamy. But subsequently, for a variety of reasons, the number of men in society decreases, leaving an excess of women. Now the question arises as to what should be the solution to this problem.

Muslims are often accused of being promiscuous because polygamy is legal in Islam. Unrestricted polygamy was practiced in most human societies throughout the world in every age.

The Quran is allegedly the final Testament to all humankin so its teaching should spread around the world for the good of humanity. However, one of its clear teachings says that men may be polygamous. Some have personal contracts.

It has allowed four wives at a time and has enjoined equality in treatment of all wives. It should be remembered that polygamy is not a compulsory thing nor is it advocated. It is just a permission with certain limitation and conditions.

As will be demonstrated in this article, the Quran sets two clear conditions that must be met before polygamy may be allowed. However, traditional scholars speak only of one condition while totally disregarding the second Quranic condition for polygamy. POLYGAMY IN ISLAMIC LAW.
